Clipper Critter

an experiment in wearable tagging systems

Clipper Critter is an experiment in wearable tagging systems. The creature is flaunting the technology (Near Field Communication, NFC) rather than hiding it. Despite it’s soft and fun look, it is actually illegal, and if an there were an official intervention the wearer removed from the Bay Area Rapid Transport (BART).

Clipper Critter is made by removing the NFC chip from the Clipper card, and attaching it to a soft antenna, using copper thread.

The chip (below) is removed by soaking the clipper card overnight, in this case- over 3 nights.
